On 18th April 2024 Derek Muller arranged an impromptu studio night to replace our usual outdoor photoshoot. Derek brought a collection of studio equipment to the Fisherrow Centre and set up three different kinds of lighting arrangements:

• Side lighting against a black background, which showed how the side light emphasises the shadows on the face. A reflector could be used to brighten the shadows an an extra light could lighten the background when the subject is wearing dark clothing.
• A harsh downlight, which could be used to create eerie low key images.
• A set of soft lights against a white background, which can be used to create soft, flattering images of subjects.

Members also brought in a collection of props and decorative hats and spent an enjoyable evening photographing each other and practicing with the setups.
