23 November 2023 (4-way Interclub Competition)

On 23rd November 2023, Musselburgh Camera Club hosted the annual 4-way competition. We were joined at Fisherrow by members from Stirling and District Camera ClubEdinburgh Photographic Society and Kirkcaldy Photographic Society. The competition was judged by Dougie Allen of Beeslack Penicuik Camera Club. Tea and cakes were provided by Jennifer Davidson and Liz Sowler.

Each club had entered 15 images, making a total of 60 images on the night. The evening got off to a flying start with Kirkcaldy’s first image, “Buzzard Aggression”, scoring a maximum 20 points. At the halfway point Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh were in joint first place with 141 points, with Musselburgh just 2 points behind and Stirling 3 points behind. Musselburgh’s top images held up well against the competition, but more of our images received 16 points than the other clubs. The final result was:

  • 1st place, Edinburgh (266 points).
  • 2nd place, Kirkcaldy (262 points).
  • 3rd place, Stirling (261points).
  • 4th place, Musselburgh (258 points).

It was a disappointing night for Musselburgh, but all 4 clubs managed to share the top images:

  • Buzzard Aggression (Edinburgh) – 20 points
  • Rum Sunset Reflections (Stirling) – 20 points
  • X Craft Submarine Last Light (Musselburgh) – 19 points
  • Steamy Window (Edinburgh) – 19 points

  • Brahmana Priest (George Todd) – 18 points
  • Mountain Hare in the Snow (Jennifer Davidson) – 18 points
  • White Mountain Hare in the Heather (Mike Clark) – 18 points

Congratulations to Edinburgh and well done to Mike, Carol, George and Jennifer for their top images.
