On 28th March we had an enjoyable evening with Musselburgh Art Club. It is an evening where two Musselburgh clubs who both enjoy the visual arts can get together, show their work and discuss their mutual interests.
Joe had selected some of Musselburgh Camera Club’s print to show the art club, ranging from bizarre abstract images to wildlife, portraits and landscapes around the world. We learned that both clubs use similar techniques in their work, in which variations in contrast and sharpness can be used to express depth, or the choice of colours can express a mood.
The art club showed some paintings which used a variety of techniques and media. The layering techniques that artists used to create different zones within their work reminded the photographers of similar techniques available within Photoshop. Members were able to get a close-up view of the paintings in the tea break and admire the delicate brush-work.
All in all it was a very enjoyable evening, and we look forward to teaming up with the art club again next year.
