I am getting in touch to let you know about a fantastic opportunity for you and the rest of the members of Musselburgh Camera Club to showcase your photography skills whilst being in the running for a chance of winning £1,000.

 This opportunity comes in the form of a photo competition run by VisitScotland to celebrate the Year of Creative Scotland 2012. We are looking for images that show the unique, uplifting, fun and quirky side of Scotland. The top prize is a £1,000 Amazon voucher with five runner-up prizes of £100 Amazon vouchers and all winning images will be showcased in The Herald magazine. 3-Hour Bird of Prey Experience

The Deal

For £19, get up close to magnificent birds of prey with this 3-hour falconry experience, including hands-on tuition and handling. This half-price offer from Adventure Events 001 is available at multiple locations and would normally cost £39.

Learn about these powerful birds and their behaviour in the wild from trained falconers, then take part in a session handling and flying. You will also get to watch a professional display and have your photo taken while handling the birds.

Hello Musselburgh Camera Club,

Even if you don’t recognise the name, you should recognise the website, www.edinphoto.org.uk, which is all about the history of photography in Edinburgh.Peter started the site ten years ago after a year of research and he now updates it daily. In January 2011, it had 23,300 pages and 17,000 pictures going back to at least 1839.

We meet at The Institute Hall, Market Street, Mid Calder EH53 OAL (opposite Tonino’s Takeaway and The Black Bull).

Free Flash Lighting Seminars on Wed 7th December

Jacobs Cameras at the west end of Edinburgh are holding a couple of free workshops by Jayce Clarke this Wednesday 7th December on the use of Speedlites on and off camera.  The first one is between 10:00am and 1:00pm and another between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.  There were still places left today so if you fancy trying it, call the shop on 221 0765 to book a slot.

I’m working otherwise I’d love to have gone!
