Our very last meeting of the season involved a trip across the Forth to Kirkcaldy Photographic Society for a 2-way inter-club competition. Those of us who travelled to Kirkcaldy were rewarded with some magnificent views of the new Queensferry Crossing under construction – in daylight on the way out and in darkness on the way back.
The judge for our competition was Eddie Telford of Ayr Photographic Society, who judged the images at very short notice when the originally judge had to drop out due to illness. Eddie gave us an entertaining evening.
At the end of the digital images we were trailing Kirkcaldy by 170 to 178. For the prints, we scored 173 points to Kirkcaldy’s 180, meaning they beat us on the night by 358 points to 343. A disappointing end to the season, but the result is not as bad as it sounds. They won because they had some fantastic images, including one of a hummingbird and a bee frozen in mid flight while competing for nectar. Both clubs were commended for delivering high quality images, and nothing scored less than 16 points. Our top images were Meconopsis (19 points), Soulmates (19 points) and Redcoats (19 points).
