I hope you are all have a good summer of photography. Here are some suggestions for places to visit if you are struggling to find subjects for next season’s “set subject” competitions:
- The National Mining Museum have added a Headframe Tour to their repertoire, offering great views over the surrounding countryside. The pithead and engines also might be the place to find some “circles and squares” subjects.
- Prestongrange Museum is also a good place to find mining equipment and railway engines.
- Here are some good places to find woodland scenery:
- River Esk Walkway
- Butterdean Wood
- Pressmennan Wood
- Seton Dean Wood
- The woodland walk along the Yester Path from Gifford to Yester Castle.
- The Air show at the National Museum of Flight takes place on 22nd July 2017. This might be a good opportunity to capture movement.
Finally, a couple of other items which might be of interest
- The BBC Countryfile Photo Competition is open until 21st July 2017
- 17th August 2017: Okello Dunkley has advertised a Low light photography workshop in Edinburgh
Cheers,
Steven.
