The Musselburgh Camera Club Annual General Meeting and presentation of prizes will take place in the Fisherrow Centre room G3 at 7:30pm on Thursday, 26th April 2018.
All members should have received a copy of the papers for the meeting. If you were missed and would like a copy of the papers, please email Steven Beard at StevenMBeard@aol.com.
Please come along, have your say in the running of the club and share some end-of-season refreshments with fellow members. There will be a collection box for ideas for next year’s set subject competitions, and there will be some surprises!
Musselburgh Art Club have had to cancel their joint evening with us this Thursday, 8th March. Instead, we will take the opportunity to reschedule the “Movement” set subject competition, which we missed this week because of the bad weather. We had booked the large room (G6) at Fisherrow for the art club meeting but will try to move back to our normal room (G3). If you don’t find us in the usual place, try the other room.
We have received some information about the 8-way interclub competition taking place next Sunday, 8th March. (This is one we referred to as the 12-way, but there are only 8 clubs taking part this year.) The competition takes place at 10.30am to 1pm on Sunday 11th March at the Roslin Masonic Hall, 21 Main Street, Roslin EH25 9LU. Doors open at 10am. There is no parking at the hall itself, but there is on-street parking nearby. Since this is a shorter than usual competition there is no catering planned, but you can bring along your own drinks. The judge is Graeme Webb from Hawick Camera Club.

I regret to inform members that, due to the bad weather and difficulty in reaching the Fisherrow Centre, tonight’s meeting of Musselburgh Camera Club has been cancelled.
We will reschedule the Set Subject Competition B evening for another date.
A PDF of the information sheet which Ford Renton mentioned during his talk on Thursday can be downloaded by clicking the link below:

I have also written a summary of Ford’s talk on the club web site.
A reminder that we will be collecting entries for the human portrait print competition this Thursday, 22nd February. Please bring along your 3 mounted prints (and send 3 JPEG copies to George Todd at the email address on the front of your syllabus). Come along and help judge the images from Mölnlycke Fotoklubb in our annual Swedish Interclub.
This Thursday, 25th January 2018, is our Burns Night Special. Please bring along a CD or data stick with 1, 2 or 3 digital JPEG images on a Burns-related theme. Club members will choose the best images, and there will be a prize for the best image on the night.
Please note that we won’t have time to sort the images on the laptop before displaying them. To ensure a good random scattering, this time please don’t begin the file names with your member number.
I’m looking forward to seeing all your images.
Happy New Year to all Musselburgh Camera Club members!
A reminder that we have our first club night of 2018 this Thursday, 11th January. It’s our annual quiz night, this year devised by Jim Tod. Come along and sharpen your mind.
Our second club night of 2018, 18th January, is a members evening. This is an opportunity for anyone who would have liked to have shown images on the 7th December to bring them along.
Also coming up on 25th January is the Burns Night Special. It’s time to get creative and find some images on the theme of Rabbie Burns. The submission date for the “Black & White” print competition is also the 25th January.
See you this Thursday.
I’ve booked into the Sparrowhawk hide for Thursday 4/1/18 in Kirkcudbright. At this point in time Alan tells me there’s 2 other available places so if anyone wants to / is able to go on Thursday I’m happy to drive and split fuel costs for getting there (and back). Let me know and we’ll see how this works out.

The club has received the following request from Jane Renton of Musselburgh Amateur Musical Association (MAMA):
I was wondering if anyone from Musselburgh Camera Club would like to come along and take some photos at our Revue dress rehearsal in January. Anyone who is interested is welcome. We just like to have a selection of photos that we can use for publicity and for our web site.
The date is the 17th January 2018 (Wed) and I can let you know the time nearer the date it will probably start about 6:30 -7pm).
If anyone is interested please email Jane at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A reminder that we have two club meetings this week:
1) On Monday, 4th December 2017 we are meeting at 7:30pm at Edinburgh Photographic Society, 68 Great King, Street in Edinburgh to take part the 4-way digital interclub competition between Musselburgh, Edinburgh, Stirling and Kirkaldy. Here is a map of the location:
There is free parking in the area after 6:30pm, but you might need to hunt for a space.
2) On Thursday, 7th December 2017 we are having an extra club meeting at the Fisherrow Centre at the usual time of 7:30pm. Bring along some digital images or prints you would like to discuss with members. We’ll make it an informal members evening, and a chance to meet up before the Christmas social evening.
