Happy New Year! Next meeting Thursday, 6th January 2022.

A Happy New Year to all Musselburgh Camera Club members!

Our first meeting of the new year takes place this coming Thursday, 6th January at the usual time of 7:30pm in the Fisherrow Centre (and by Zoom). Malcolm Roberts will be judging the first of our set subject competitions on the theme of “reflections”.

Don’t forget this Thursday is also the submission date for our human portrait print competition, which this time will be a proper print competition. If you are coming to Fisherrow this Thursday, please bring your mounted prints with you. If you are planning to join by Zoom, please contact George and arrange a mutually convenient hand-over. Please also send George JPEG copies of the images you are entering. The competition will be judged by Gordon Scott on 27th January 2022. It has been a long time since we had a full competition with mounted prints, so this will be a chance to get back into practice.

See you on Thursday.

Pecha Kucha Evening

A reminder that tomorrow evening (21st October 2021) is our Pecha Kucha Evening. It gives everyone an opportunity to show 10 images and speak about each one for around 20 seconds. You can show any images, whether your own work or the work of another photographer or artist you think would be of interest to other members.

If you are coming to the Fisherrow Centre please bring your 10 images on a data stick. If you are connecting from home by Zoom, please have your 10 images ready on your computer.

See you at 7:30 tomorrow evening.

Photo Advice Night This Evening

Tonight is photo advice night. Please bring along some images for which you would like advice or feedback. This is a good night for anyone to bring their images for advice on how to improve them. It is also a good evening to share hints and tips.

If you are connecting by Zoom, please save your images to a folder so you can share your screen and show them. The Zoom information is exactly the same as for last week’s meeting.

If you are coming along to the Fisherrow Centre, please bring your images on a data stick so we can load them onto the club laptop at the beginning of the night. If you would like advice on a mounted or unmounted print please bring it to Fisherrow.

I look forward to seeing you at 7:30 this evening.

16 September 2021 (Introduction to Photography)

This week I gave my introduction to photography presentation for beginners, this time as a combined face to face and Zoom presentation. This was the first use of the club’s new wireless microphone, which we found was good for picking up the speaker but not so good for picking up the chat from within the room. Next time we will switch to a different microphone for the questions and chat.

Here is a collection of downloadable notes, if anyone would like more details.

The following downloadable notes and give more information on club competitions.

After the presentation there was a technical hitch, where the club laptop struggled to manage a Zoom meeting and play a Dingwall DVD at the same time. After a few minutes delay we eventually showed some inspirational images from the Dingwall Camera Club National Projected Image Exhibition.
